Almost anyone can go on a mobile safari these days. Africa for all provides a luxury safari which has all the benefits
of an adventure while experiencing comfort and security provided by our highly motivated crew. 10 years ago the average age
of our travellers was around 23-27 years old. This has changed and now the average is over 40. However, these indications
are very general as each and every tour is different. Depending on university and school term time the age demographic does
vary. When putting together a tour group, all factors are taken into account by our team but part of the tour is about meeting
new people. On our tours we see that most people get along very well as the people that book an adventure holiday in Africa
have similar values and interests. Although there are often couples and groups of friends who have booked together, many travellers
are single and the male-female mix generally works out about even.
Africa is a very challenging environment at the best
of times and often plans can change due to safety, accessibility and the things we don’t see coming so we ask all travellers
to have a flexible approach. The decision made buy the guide and crew are for your safety and wellbeing and we ask all guests
to abide by them. The crew have been working in the area for a long time and have extensive experience to back up any decisions
made.
What we expect....
All we expect of you is to act in a courteous
manor towards the rest of the group and if you have any problem at all with the tour – tell us! There is nothing we
can do to make the trip more comfortable for you once you have come to the end of your tour.
It is essential that you are prepared for your trip as Africa
is a unique destination and can throw plenty of challenges our way. Please use the following checklist:
o Your Passport – Please ensure your passport is valid
for an extra 6 months following the return date of your trip. Some countries will not allow you in if you do not have this.
Please check you have at least 6 blank pages in your passport. Take copies of your passport and hand a copy to the tour guide.
This will be essential if your passport gets lost.
o Check your visa requirements
o Vaccinations and Medication – We advise you seek advice from your
GP or local Travel Clinic as soon as possible. It could be that some of your vaccinations need re-boosting
and they will also offer advice on Malaria prevention. If you are on a repeat prescription, please bring
enough medication and inform the tour guide of any medical conditions. It is also important you inform the tour guide of any
malaria medication you are taking as some have strong side effects and it will help us to recognise this.
o Onward travel details – If you have travel arrangements planned, please check these
before we depart on the tour as communication can be limited throughout the tour. We also recommend you tell close family
members that you will be out of contact for most of the trip to stop them from worrying if they cannot get hold of you.
o Money – There are Cash Points/ATM’s throughout Botswana and accept most credit
and debit cards, but please check with your bank before departure. US Dollars are accepted at most tourist destinations however
exchange rates are not always that good. Travellers checks are not easy to use in Botswana and we do not suggest you use this.
There will be facilities to use Bureau De Change throughout the trip.
o Insurance – Africa for All does carry insurance but we recommend you take out a
personal premium travel insurance policy that covers health and belongings. You will be in remote locations and good travel
insurance may look more expensive and hopefully you will never need to use it, but if you do, it will be the most worthwhile
purchase you have ever made!
Travel Advice
Check visa requirements for Botswana
Please follow airport guidelines when packing as we have limited space on the vehicle. This is one main bag per passenger
and one small carry-one bag that can be used for one night stays.
You will need to pack for all weather conditions as days can be hot and night’s can be cool. We recommend the
following:
• 2/3 shorts/skirts
• 1 jacket/anorak
• Tracksuit/pullover
• 2 pairs of long pants/jeans
• 1 pairs of walking shoes/boots/trainers
• 1 pair of sandals
• 4 T-shirts/short sleeve shirts or sundresses
• 2 Long Sleeve Shirts
• Smart casual change of clothes
• Swimwear
• Underwear & socks
• Sun Hat – preferably that covers the back of
your neck.
• Sarong
Your clothing should be easy to wash and dry and should preferably not need ironing. Avoid synthetics, which can be
very uncomfortable in hot weather. People often underestime how cold Botswana can be so please remember warm clothing. There
are also nights that are warm but you must still wear clothes that cover arms and legs from mosquitoes. Take a set of casual
but smart clothes for the occasional evening out in a restaurant or club.
If you wear glasses (or contacts) it is also advisable to bring a spare pair.
Additional Items:
• Towel & facecloth
• Baby wipes/ Wet Wipes
• Personal toiletries
• Torch & enough spare batteries
• Camera & spare batteries and plebty films/memory cards
• Insect and Mosquito repellent
• Suntan lotion, sun block & after sun lotion
• Sunglasses
• Small basic First Aid kit (painkillers, band aids,
after-sun lotion, eye drops, anti-diarrhoea tablets
etc.)
• Passport (plus a copy of your passport & visas)
• Extra passport photos
• Vaccination certificate
• Money
Laundry
Laundry facilities will be available at most sites
we use but you may have to wash some garments by hand at times. We aim to get your laundry done as much as possible and this
may come at an extra charge.
Photography
If you enjoy photography we recommend you pack plenty
of memory cards. A lot of people can take an excess of 50 photos a day trying to get the perfect shot so please take this
into account. The facility for charging batteries is not always available so please pack spares. Botswana is a very dusty
country and we advise high quality storage for and expensive equipment. The dust is very fine and can break camera lenses
quickly.
Through the tour we are always happy to stop for
photographs so please ask us to do so.
If you want to take photos of local people please
ask permission first as this is against some cultures. Check with your guide if you are in doubt about this at anytime.
Health
HIV/Aids is a massive problem in Botswana with over
50% of the population being infected. We hope you take this into account at all times while travelling as the main causes
of infection are through blood and sexual intercourse.
Malaria is a problem in some areas and your GP will
advise you on what medication is best for you. Malaria medication sometimes gives quite strong side effects so please let
us know what medication you are taking so we can identify these.
Due to the climate there is always a risk of dehydration.
We ask you drink plenty of water, at least 3 litres a day and more in the summer months. You cannot drink the water in some
areas and your guide will advise you what is safe.
We recommend factor 30 sunscreen to be worn throughout
the day even if it feels cool. The sun in Botswana is harsh and we also recommend wearing a hat.
Alcohol and Drugs
The trip we offer is not a ‘booze cruise’
and ask that you respect the members of your group when drinking alcohol.
Alcohol is one of the main causes of dehydration
so please drink plenty of water when drinking alcohol.
Local Laws and Customs
Guests are required to obey all laws of the countries at all times. If any passenger is found contravening local laws
or putting other passengers at risk may be required to leave the tour immediately with no refund.
